Officers from the Yonkers Police Department responded to the front entrance of a Highland Avenue building shortly before 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, where they found a 12-year-old with a gunshot wound to his neck.

Police said that first responders treated the boy at the scene, and transported him to an area hospital, where he is still recovering.

The investigation determined that the boy was with a group of other young people in front of the building when two suspects allegedly fired a single shot each in the direction of the group. The 12-year-old was struck with one of the bullets and the suspects fled the scene.
